Home A poor man told his wife

Once upon a time, a poor man, tired of his struggles and endless poverty, turned to his wife with determination in his eyes.

“I’m sick of being poor. I’m going to work overseas,” he declared boldly.

With hope in his heart, he packed his bags and set off for Africa, determined to change his fortune.

A Luxurious Return

Several years passed. One day, the man returned home. As he approached his house, he stopped in his tracks, his jaw dropping at the sight before him.

The house he had once left behind—small, simple, and modest—was now grand and luxurious. Marble floors, ornate windows, and golden accents greeted him even from a distance.

Confused but curious, he knocked on the door. A well-dressed servant opened it.

“Is the lady of the house in?” the man asked, still in disbelief.

The servant nodded and politely responded, “One moment, please.”

The Reunion

His wife appeared at the door, dressed in fine silk and adorned with jewelry that sparkled under the sunlight. She paused for a moment, taking in the sight of her husband standing there in fancy clothes and polished shoes.

“Well, look at you! My husband, all dressed up like a wealthy businessman after all these years,” she said with a smile.

The man beamed with pride. “Guess what? I made it—I’m rich!”

His wife raised an eyebrow. “Oh? And how did you manage that?”

The Husband’s Story

He puffed out his chest and began his tale.

“When I arrived in Africa, I couldn’t believe what I saw. People were walking around with no underwear, and they were sleeping directly on the sand! I realized an opportunity and started making and selling underwear and beds.”

He paused dramatically before continuing, “The demand was so high, business took off instantly. I got rich faster than I ever imagined!”

His wife clapped her hands together. “Incredible! So, a strong, determined man like you had to travel all the way to Africa, working day and night making beds and underwear to become wealthy.”

The man nodded eagerly, proud of his success.

The Twist

His wife smirked slightly, leaning in closer. “Meanwhile, I stayed right here. No underwear, sleeping on a single bed… and let me tell you something—I got REALLY rich.”

The man blinked, stunned into silence.

And just like that, the poor man realized that sometimes, success doesn’t always require traveling far—it might just be waiting right where you are.

Moral of the story: Opportunities are everywhere; it’s all about how you recognize and seize them.
